Elusive Melbourne-based artist Maliblue releases Hex - a ‘yoga house’ styled collage of samples, found sounds and percussive overdubs. Hex is a stunningly exploratory album - a record symbolising “movement and achieving zen through accepting ongoing chaos” best showcased in singles Trykt and Dual.

Influenced by accelerationist pop, disco and lo-fi house, the record symbolises a dramatic tonal, personal and artistic shift for Maliblue, having previously released cassettes with iconic vaporwave labels Adhesive Sounds and 永遠に B O G U S // COLLECTIVE.

A gorgeous mix of tender samples, minimal instrumentation and numeric/thematic obsessions (each track is a duration of several minutes + “33 seconds”), the album marks Maliblue’s first release on Melbourne label, Healthy Tapes. As fitting in IKEA as it is in a club, Hex recalls the nostalgic melancholy of Moby, the steady purposefulness of Khruangbin, and everything in between.

Hex will be released digitally and on limited ivory cassette through Healthy Tapes on September 7th.
