Perth-based artist Tanaya Harper releases her debut EP Some Kinds - an intimate release addressing her experiences with depression, anxiety and living with bipolar disorder. Written over the last 2.5 years and featuring Stella Donnelly on lead guitar (Graceless, Feeding Frenzy & The Dark I Love), the EP is a gorgeous mix of minimal, tender instrumentation and lush harmonies indicative of Tanaya’s honest and brave style.

Since its release, debut single Graceless has been playlisted by Triple J’s Home & Hosed / Unearthed and added to rotation on 2SER, RTRFM and 4ZZZ, while the first pressing of cassettes sold out in the first two weeks of pre-order. Previously sharing the stage with artists such as Alex The Astronaut, Jen Cloher and Abbe May, playing in bands Bells Rapids and Ghost Care, and a string of international vocal features, the record marks her first outing as a solo artist.

“‘The release expresses the experience of living with bipolar disorder - specifically the depressive episodes and debilitating anxiety that comes with it. The music I write often varies in style and genre, so the name 'Some Kinds' is my way of distinguishing between these songs and others that I have, keeping them in a nice little compact bubble that have their own shared identity.”

A release sure to appeal to fans of Angel Olsen or Mitski, Some Kinds will be released digitally and on limited cassette through Healthy Tapes this Friday, June 22nd.
